Victorian Houses

Because they look like cakes.

Because I'm sure there is magic in there.

Because I'm sure those walls whisper secret stories.

Because you can get lost in those nooks and crannies.

Because it is probably filled with the laughter of children.

Because it would be a very nice home.

Because there is plenty of room for me and you.

This is so strange...I was looking for images of Victorian home designs and this picture came up. This house is in my home town of Muskegon, Michigan. It was owned by one of the lumber barons of the late Victorian era by the name of Hume. Next door to this house is another that looks very similar owned by Hume's best friend Charles Hackley. These two homes have underground passages that lead from one house to the other and both homes connect to the old servants quarters/ carriage house that they mutually share.
